"In my view the planet is dying of consumption. The next World Climate Summit will take place in Denmark next year and Connie Heddegaard, (Danish Environment Minister) says that this occasion is critical to halt or reduce long term damage to the environment. In the light of the current global economic meltdown, it seems that countries are at last beginning to work together to save their economies and enter into a more cooperative spirit of doing business. Is now an ideal time to build the issue of climate change into the economic rescue package that will not only deal with more efficient ways of creating energy but to drive down the negative effects of the consumer culture the worst of which are eminating from aspiring 3rd world countries like India and China who are about to move into the super-league of economic powers. What plans do the government have to alleviate that?"
